Our mission
To make learning the Qur'an easy and open to everyone: children, parents, adults who never had the chance, and people who have just embraced Islam.
Free for learners and parents
Every lesson, dua and prayer guide is free, and so is progress tracking for each child.
Tools for teachers
For a small fixed fee per student: a dashboard for each student, progress marks, notes, class plans, a calendar, reminders and meeting links.
Live one-to-one classes
Families book a qualified teacher and pay them directly. Teachers pay a small fixed fee per student, which keeps Ilm of Islam running.
Income for teachers
Skilled teachers in India, Pakistan, Yemen and many other countries can earn a fair living teaching the Book of Allah.
How we teach
The reading course follows the path of the well-known Qaidas used in homes and masjids around the world: the letters, how they join, the short and long vowels, tanween, sukoon and shaddah, then the basic rules of tajweed, ending with reading real surahs. Every letter and word has its pronunciation written in English underneath and can be tapped to hear it.
How we handle the Qur'an
We never type the Qur'an by hand. Every ayah on this site, including the duas taken from the Qur'an, is imported automatically from the official files of the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex in Madinah (qurancomplex.gov.sa): the Uthmani text of the Madinah Mushaf with its own font, and the recitation of Muhammad Ayyub. When a lesson or dua quotes part of an ayah, a joining shaddah at the very start may be left out so the quote reads on its own. Duas from the Sunnah come with their hadith reference. The meanings and pronunciation guides are being checked by teachers.
Made for every language
Lessons are available in English and Urdu, and built so that Hindi, Arabic, Bengali and other languages can be added side by side.
