Dua cards: The Six Kalimahs and Eemaan

    Name: Date:

First Kalimah: Ṭayyib (the pure word)

    laa i-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu mu-ḥam-ma-dur ra-soo-lul-laah

“There is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

📚 Both halves are in the Qur'an (37:35, 48:29); taught as the first Kalimah

    Second Kalimah: Shahaadah (bearing witness)

    ash-ha-du al-laa i-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu waḥ-da-hoo laa sha-ree-ka lah, wa ash-ha-du an-na mu-ḥam-ma-dan 'ab-du-hoo wa ra-soo-luh

“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.”

    📚 Sahih Muslim 234

    Third Kalimah: Tamjeed (glorifying Allah)

    sub-ḥaa-nal-laa-hi wal-ḥam-du lil-laa-hi wa laa i-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu wal-laa-hu ak-bar, wa laa ḥaw-la wa laa quw-wa-ta il-laa bil-laa-hil 'a-liy-yil 'a-ẓeem

“Glory be to Allah, all praise is for Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.”

    📚 Sahih Muslim 2695 (the first four phrases); Sahih al-Bukhari 6384 (laa ḥaw-la wa laa quw-wa-ta il-laa bil-laah)

Fourth Kalimah: Tawḥeed (the oneness of Allah)

    laa i-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu waḥ-da-hoo laa sha-ree-ka lah, la-hul mul-ku wa la-hul ḥamd, yuḥ-yee wa yu-meet, wa hu-wa ḥay-yul laa ya-moo-tu a-ba-dan a-ba-daa, dhul ja-laa-li wal ik-raam, bi-ya-di-hil khayr, wa hu-wa 'a-laa kul-li shay-'in qa-deer

“There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. His is the kingdom and His is all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living and never dies, ever. Owner of majesty and honour; all good is in His hand, and He has power over everything.”

📚 Based on Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3428 (graded ḥasan by some); "a-ba-dan a-ba-daa, dhul ja-laa-li wal ik-raam" is part of the traditional wording

    Fifth Kalimah: Istighfaar (asking forgiveness)

    as-tagh-fi-rul-laa-ha rab-bee min kul-li dham-bin adh-nab-tu-hoo 'a-ma-dan aw kha-ṭa-'an sir-ran aw 'a-laa-ni-ya-taw wa a-too-bu i-lay-hi mi-nadh dham-bil la-dhee a'-la-mu wa mi-nadh dham-bil la-dhee laa a'-lam, in-na-ka an-ta 'al-laa-mul ghu-yoo-bi wa sat-taa-rul 'u-yoo-bi wa ghaf-faa-rudh dhu-noob, wa laa ḥaw-la wa laa quw-wa-ta il-laa bil-laa-hil 'a-liy-yil 'a-ẓeem

“I ask Allah, my Lord, to forgive every sin I have done, on purpose or by mistake, in secret or openly, and I turn to Him from the sins I know and the sins I do not know. You are the Knower of the unseen, the Concealer of faults and the Forgiver of sins. There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.”

📚 Traditional wording taught in South Asian madrasahs (not the text of a single hadith)

Sixth Kalimah: Radd al-Kufr (rejecting disbelief)

    al-laa-hum-ma in-nee a-'oo-dhu bi-ka min an ush-ri-ka bi-ka shay-'aw wa a-na a'-la-mu bih, wa as-tagh-fi-ru-ka li-maa laa a'-la-mu bih, tub-tu 'an-hu wa ta-bar-ra'-tu mi-nal kuf-ri wash shir-ki wal kidh-bi wal ghee-ba-ti wal bid-'a-ti wan na-mee-ma-ti wal fa-waa-ḥi-shi wal buh-taa-ni wal ma-'aa-ṣee kul-li-haa, wa as-lam-tu wa a-qoo-lu laa i-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu mu-ḥam-ma-dur ra-soo-lul-laah

“O Allah, I seek Your protection from knowingly associating anything with You, and I ask Your forgiveness for what I do without knowing. I repent from it and free myself from disbelief, shirk, lying, backbiting, wrong innovation, spreading tales, indecency, slander and every sin. I submit, and I say: there is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

📚 First sentence: Al-Adab al-Mufrad 716; the rest is the traditional wording taught in madrasahs

    Eemaan Mujmal (faith in brief)

    aa-man-tu bil-laa-hi ka-maa hu-wa bi-as-maa-'i-hee wa ṣi-faa-ti-hee wa qa-bil-tu ja-mee-'a aḥ-kaa-mih

“I believe in Allah as He is, with His names and His qualities, and I accept all His commands.”

📚 Traditional wording taught in madrasahs, summarising the belief in Allah

    Eemaan Mufaṣṣal (faith in detail)

    aa-man-tu bil-laa-hi wa ma-laa-'i-ka-ti-hee wa ku-tu-bi-hee wa ru-su-li-hee wal yaw-mil aa-khi-ri wal qad-ri khay-ri-hee wa shar-ri-hee mi-nal-laa-hi ta-'aa-laa wal ba'-thi ba'-dal mawt

“I believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and that the good and bad of fate are from Allah the Most High, and in being raised after death.”

📚 Based on the hadith of Jibreel (Sahih Muslim 8); traditional wording
