The conquest of Makkah

In the eighth year after the Hijrah, the Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah peacefully, cleared the Ka'bah of idols and forgave his old enemies.

When the Quraysh broke the treaty, the Prophet ﷺ marched to Makkah with a large army, in Ramadan. He entered humbly, with his head bowed, and almost no fighting took place. He removed the idols from around the Ka'bah and forgave the people who had fought him for years.

On the day of the conquest, the Prophet ﷺ struck the idols around the Ka'bah, reciting: “Truth has come, and falsehood has vanished.”

Surah An-Nasr
