88:1 ⚑
  1. هَلۡ hal Has
  2. أَتَىٰكَ atāka (there) come to you
  3. حَدِيثُ ḥadīthu (the) news
  4. ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ l-ghāshiyati (of) the Overwhelming
88:2 ⚑
  1. وُجُوهࣱ wujūhun Faces
  2. يَوۡمَئِذٍ yawma-idhin that Day
  3. خَٰشِعَةٌ khāshiʿatun (will be) humbled
88:3 ⚑
  1. عَامِلَةࣱ ʿāmilatun Laboring
  2. نَّاصِبَةࣱ nāṣibatun exhausted
88:4 ⚑
  1. تَصۡلَىٰ taṣlā They will burn
  2. نَارًا nāran (in) a Fire
  3. حَامِيَةࣰ ḥāmiyatan intensely hot
88:5 ⚑
  1. تُسۡقَىٰ tus'qā They will be given to drink
  2. مِنۡ min from
  3. عَيۡنٍ ʿaynin a spring
  4. ءَانِيَةࣲ āniyatin boiling
88:6 ⚑
  1. لَّيۡسَ laysa Not is
  2. لَهُمۡ lahum for them
  3. طَعَامٌ ṭaʿāmun food
  4. إِلَّا illā except
  5. مِن min from
  6. ضَرِيعࣲ ḍarīʿin a bitter thorny plant
88:7 ⚑
  1. لَّا lā Not
  2. يُسۡمِنُ yus'minu it nourishes
  3. وَلَا walā and not
  4. يُغۡنِي yugh'nī it avails
  5. مِن min from
  6. جُوعࣲ jūʿin hunger
88:8 ⚑
  1. وُجُوهࣱ wujūhun Faces
  2. يَوۡمَئِذࣲ yawma-idhin that Day
  3. نَّاعِمَةࣱ nāʿimatun (will be) joyful
88:9 ⚑
  1. لِّسَعۡيِهَا lisaʿyihā With their effort
  2. رَاضِيَةࣱ rāḍiyatun satisfied
88:10 ⚑
  1. فِي fī In
  2. جَنَّةٍ jannatin a garden
  3. عَالِيَةࣲ ʿāliyatin elevated
88:11 ⚑
  1. لَّا lā Not
  2. تَسۡمَعُ tasmaʿu they will hear
  3. فِيهَا fīhā therein
  4. لَٰغِيَةࣰ lāghiyatan vain talk
88:12 ⚑
  1. فِيهَا fīhā Therein
  2. عَيۡنࣱ ʿaynun (will be) a spring
  3. جَارِيَةࣱ jāriyatun flowing
88:13 ⚑
  1. فِيهَا fīhā Therein
  2. سُرُرࣱ sururun (will be) thrones
  3. مَّرۡفُوعَةࣱ marfūʿatun raised high
88:14 ⚑
  1. وَأَكۡوَابࣱ wa-akwābun And cups
  2. مَّوۡضُوعَةࣱ mawḍūʿatun put in place
88:15 ⚑
  1. وَنَمَارِقُ wanamāriqu And cushions
  2. مَصۡفُوفَةࣱ maṣfūfatun lined up
88:16 ⚑
  1. وَزَرَابِيُّ wazarābiyyu And carpets
  2. مَبۡثُوثَةٌ mabthūthatun spread out
88:17 ⚑
  1. أَفَلَا afalā Then do not
  2. يَنظُرُونَ yanẓurūna they look
  3. إِلَى ilā towards
  4. ٱلۡإِبِلِ l-ibili the camels
  5. كَيۡفَ kayfa how
  6. خُلِقَتۡ khuliqat they are created
88:18 ⚑
  1. وَإِلَى wa-ilā And towards
  2. ٱلسَّمَآءِ l-samāi the sky
  3. كَيۡفَ kayfa how
  4. رُفِعَتۡ rufiʿat it is raised
88:19 ⚑
  1. وَإِلَى wa-ilā And towards
  2. ٱلۡجِبَالِ l-jibāli the mountains
  3. كَيۡفَ kayfa how
  4. نُصِبَتۡ nuṣibat they are fixed
88:20 ⚑
  1. وَإِلَى wa-ilā And towards
  2. ٱلۡأَرۡضِ l-arḍi the earth
  3. كَيۡفَ kayfa how
  4. سُطِحَتۡ suṭiḥat it is spread out
88:21 ⚑
  1. فَذَكِّرۡ fadhakkir So remind
  2. إِنَّمَآ innamā only
  3. أَنتَ anta you
  4. مُذَكِّرࣱ mudhakkirun (are) a reminder
88:22 ⚑
  1. لَّسۡتَ lasta You are not
  2. عَلَيۡهِم ʿalayhim over them
  3. بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ bimuṣayṭirin a controller
88:23 ⚑
  1. إِلَّا illā But
  2. مَن man whoever
  3. تَوَلَّىٰ tawallā turns away
  4. وَكَفَرَ wakafara and disbelieves
88:24 ⚑
  1. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ fayuʿadhibuhu Then will punish him
  2. ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah
  3. ٱلۡعَذَابَ l-ʿadhāba (with) the punishment
  4. ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ l-akbara greatest
88:25 ⚑
  1. إِنَّ inna Indeed
  2. إِلَيۡنَآ ilaynā to Us
  3. إِيَابَهُمۡ iyābahum (will be) their return
88:26 ⚑
  1. ثُمَّ thumma Then
  2. إِنَّ inna indeed
  3. عَلَيۡنَا ʿalaynā upon Us
  4. حِسَابَهُم ḥisābahum (is) their account
