89:1 ⚑
  1. وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ wal-fajri By the dawn
89:2 ⚑
  1. وَلَيَالٍ walayālin And the nights
  2. عَشۡرࣲ ʿashrin ten
89:3 ⚑
  1. وَٱلشَّفۡعِ wal-shafʿi And the even
  2. وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ wal-watri and the odd
89:4 ⚑
  1. وَٱلَّيۡلِ wa-al-layli And the night
  2. إِذَا idhā when
  3. يَسۡرِ yasri it passes
89:5 ⚑
  1. هَلۡ hal Is
  2. فِي fī in
  3. ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that
  4. قَسَمࣱ qasamun (not) an oath
  5. لِّذِي lidhī for those
  6. حِجۡرٍ ḥij'rin who understand
89:6 ⚑
  1. أَلَمۡ alam Did not
  2. تَرَ tara you see
  3. كَيۡفَ kayfa how
  4. فَعَلَ faʿala dealt
  5. رَبُّكَ rabbuka your Lord
  6. بِعَادٍ biʿādin with Aad
89:7 ⚑
  1. إِرَمَ irama Iram
  2. ذَاتِ dhāti possessors (of)
  3. ٱلۡعِمَادِ l-ʿimādi lofty pillars
89:8 ⚑
  1. ٱلَّتِي allatī Which
  2. لَمۡ lam not
  3. يُخۡلَقۡ yukh'laq had been created
  4. مِثۡلُهَا mith'luhā like them
  5. فِي fī in
  6. ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ l-bilādi the cities
89:9 ⚑
  1. وَثَمُودَ wathamūda And Thamud
  2. ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna who
  3. جَابُواْ jābū carved out
  4. ٱلصَّخۡرَ l-ṣakhra the rocks
  5. بِٱلۡوَادِ bil-wādi in the valley
89:10 ⚑
  1. وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ wafir'ʿawna And Firaun
  2. ذِي dhī owner of
  3. ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ l-awtādi stakes
89:11 ⚑
  1. ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Who
  2. طَغَوۡاْ ṭaghaw transgressed
  3. فِي fī in
  4. ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ l-bilādi the lands
89:12 ⚑
  1. فَأَكۡثَرُواْ fa-aktharū And (made) much
  2. فِيهَا fīhā therein
  3. ٱلۡفَسَادَ l-fasāda corruption
89:13 ⚑
  1. فَصَبَّ faṣabba So poured
  2. عَلَيۡهِمۡ ʿalayhim on them
  3. رَبُّكَ rabbuka your Lord
  4. سَوۡطَ sawṭa scourge
  5. عَذَابٍ ʿadhābin (of) punishment
89:14 ⚑
  1. إِنَّ inna Indeed
  2. رَبَّكَ rabbaka your Lord
  3. لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ labil-mir'ṣādi (is) surely Ever Watchful
89:15 ⚑
  1. فَأَمَّا fa-ammā And as for
  2. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ l-insānu man
  3. إِذَا idhā when
  4. مَا mā does
  5. ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ ib'talāhu try him
  6. رَبُّهُۥ rabbuhu his Lord
  7. فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ fa-akramahu and is generous to him
  8. وَنَعَّمَهُۥ wanaʿʿamahu and favors him
  9. فَيَقُولُ fayaqūlu he says
  10. رَبِّيٓ rabbī My Lord
  11. أَكۡرَمَنِ akramani has honored me
89:16 ⚑
  1. وَأَمَّآ wa-ammā But
  2. إِذَا idhā when
  3. مَا mā does
  4. ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ ib'talāhu He try him
  5. فَقَدَرَ faqadara and restricts
  6. عَلَيۡهِ ʿalayhi for him
  7. رِزۡقَهُۥ riz'qahu his provision
  8. فَيَقُولُ fayaqūlu then he says
  9. رَبِّيٓ rabbī My Lord
  10. أَهَٰنَنِ ahānani (has) humiliated me
89:17 ⚑
  1. كَلَّاۖ kallā Nay
  2. بَل bal But
  3. لَّا lā not
  4. تُكۡرِمُونَ tuk'rimūna you honor
  5. ٱلۡيَتِيمَ l-yatīma the orphan
89:18 ⚑
  1. وَلَا walā And not
  2. تَحَٰٓضُّونَ taḥāḍḍūna you feel the urge
  3. عَلَىٰ ʿalā to
  4. طَعَامِ ṭaʿāmi feed
  5. ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ l-mis'kīni the poor
89:19 ⚑
  1. وَتَأۡكُلُونَ watakulūna And you consume
  2. ٱلتُّرَاثَ l-turātha the inheritance
  3. أَكۡلࣰا aklan devouring
  4. لَّمࣰّا lamman altogether
89:20 ⚑
  1. وَتُحِبُّونَ watuḥibbūna And you love
  2. ٱلۡمَالَ l-māla wealth
  3. حُبࣰّا ḥubban (with) love
  4. جَمࣰّا jamman immense
89:21 ⚑
  1. كَلَّآۖ kallā Nay
  2. إِذَا idhā When
  3. دُكَّتِ dukkati is leveled
  4. ٱلۡأَرۡضُ l-arḍu the earth
  5. دَكࣰّا dakkan pounded
  6. دَكࣰّا dakkan (and) crushed
89:22 ⚑
  1. وَجَآءَ wajāa And comes
  2. رَبُّكَ rabbuka your Lord
  3. وَٱلۡمَلَكُ wal-malaku and the Angels
  4. صَفࣰّا ṣaffan rank
  5. صَفࣰّا ṣaffan (upon) rank
89:23 ⚑
  1. وَجِاْيٓءَ wajīa And is brought
  2. يَوۡمَئِذِۭ yawma-idhin that Day
  3. بِجَهَنَّمَۚ bijahannama Hell
  4. يَوۡمَئِذࣲ yawma-idhin That Day
  5. يَتَذَكَّرُ yatadhakkaru will remember
  6. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ l-insānu man
  7. وَأَنَّىٰ wa-annā but how
  8. لَهُ lahu (will be) for him
  9. ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ l-dhik'rā the remembrance
89:24 ⚑
  1. يَقُولُ yaqūlu He will say
  2. يَٰلَيۡتَنِي yālaytanī O I wish
  3. قَدَّمۡتُ qaddamtu I had sent forth
  4. لِحَيَاتِي liḥayātī for my life
89:25 ⚑
  1. فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ fayawma-idhin So that Day
  2. لَّا lā not
  3. يُعَذِّبُ yuʿadhibu will punish
  4. عَذَابَهُۥٓ ʿadhābahu (as) His punishment
  5. أَحَدࣱ aḥadun anyone
89:26 ⚑
  1. وَلَا walā And not
  2. يُوثِقُ yūthiqu will bind
  3. وَثَاقَهُۥٓ wathāqahu (as) His binding
  4. أَحَدࣱ aḥadun anyone
89:27 ⚑
  1. يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَا yāayyatuhā O
  2. ٱلنَّفۡسُ l-nafsu soul
  3. ٱلۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُ l-muṭ'ma-inatu who is satisfied
89:28 ⚑
  1. ٱرۡجِعِيٓ ir'jiʿī Return
  2. إِلَىٰ ilā to
  3. رَبِّكِ rabbiki your Lord
  4. رَاضِيَةࣰ rāḍiyatan well pleased
  5. مَّرۡضِيَّةࣰ marḍiyyatan and pleasing
89:29 ⚑
  1. فَٱدۡخُلِي fa-ud'khulī So enter
  2. فِي fī among
  3. عِبَٰدِي ʿibādī My slaves
89:30 ⚑
  1. وَٱدۡخُلِي wa-ud'khulī And enter
  2. جَنَّتِي jannatī My Paradise
