90:1 ⚑
  1. لَآ lā Nay
  2. أُقۡسِمُ uq'simu I swear
  3. بِهَٰذَا bihādhā by this
  4. ٱلۡبَلَدِ l-baladi city
90:2 ⚑
  1. وَأَنتَ wa-anta And you
  2. حِلُّۢ ḥillun (are) free (to dwell)
  3. بِهَٰذَا bihādhā in this
  4. ٱلۡبَلَدِ l-baladi city
90:3 ⚑
  1. وَوَالِدࣲ wawālidin And the begetter
  2. وَمَا wamā and what
  3. وَلَدَ walada he begot
90:4 ⚑
  1. لَقَدۡ laqad Certainly
  2. خَلَقۡنَا khalaqnā We have created
  3. ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ l-insāna man
  4. فِي fī (to be) in
  5. كَبَدٍ kabadin hardship
90:5 ⚑
  1. أَيَحۡسَبُ ayaḥsabu Does he think
  2. أَن an that
  3. لَّن lan not
  4. يَقۡدِرَ yaqdira has power
  5. عَلَيۡهِ ʿalayhi over him
  6. أَحَدࣱ aḥadun anyone
90:6 ⚑
  1. يَقُولُ yaqūlu He will say
  2. أَهۡلَكۡتُ ahlaktu I have squandered
  3. مَالࣰا mālan wealth
  4. لُّبَدًا lubadan abundant
90:7 ⚑
  1. أَيَحۡسَبُ ayaḥsabu Does he think
  2. أَن an that
  3. لَّمۡ lam not
  4. يَرَهُۥٓ yarahu sees him
  5. أَحَدٌ aḥadun anyone
90:8 ⚑
  1. أَلَمۡ alam Have not
  2. نَجۡعَل najʿal We made
  3. لَّهُۥ lahu for him
  4. عَيۡنَيۡنِ ʿaynayni two eyes
90:9 ⚑
  1. وَلِسَانࣰا walisānan And a tongue
  2. وَشَفَتَيۡنِ washafatayni and two lips
90:10 ⚑
  1. وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُ wahadaynāhu And shown him
  2. ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِ l-najdayni the two ways
90:11 ⚑
  1. فَلَا falā But not
  2. ٱقۡتَحَمَ iq'taḥama he has attempted
  3. ٱلۡعَقَبَةَ l-ʿaqabata the steep path
90:12 ⚑
  1. وَمَآ wamā And what
  2. أَدۡرَىٰكَ adrāka can make you know
  3. مَا mā what
  4. ٱلۡعَقَبَةُ l-ʿaqabatu the steep path (is)
90:13 ⚑
  1. فَكُّ fakku (It is) freeing
  2. رَقَبَةٍ raqabatin a neck
90:14 ⚑
  1. أَوۡ aw Or
  2. إِطۡعَٰمࣱ iṭ'ʿāmun feeding
  3. فِي fī in
  4. يَوۡمࣲ yawmin a day
  5. ذِي dhī of
  6. مَسۡغَبَةࣲ masghabatin severe hunger
90:15 ⚑
  1. يَتِيمࣰا yatīman An orphan
  2. ذَا dhā of
  3. مَقۡرَبَةٍ maqrabatin near relationship
90:16 ⚑
  1. أَوۡ aw Or
  2. مِسۡكِينࣰا mis'kīnan a needy person
  3. ذَا dhā in
  4. مَتۡرَبَةࣲ matrabatin misery
90:17 ⚑
  1. ثُمَّ thumma Then
  2. كَانَ kāna he is
  3. مِنَ mina of
  4. ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
  5. ءَامَنُواْ āmanū believe
  6. وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ watawāṣaw and enjoin (each other)
  7. بِٱلصَّبۡرِ bil-ṣabri to patience
  8. وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ watawāṣaw and enjoin (each other)
  9. بِٱلۡمَرۡحَمَةِ bil-marḥamati to compassion
90:18 ⚑
  1. أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those
  2. أَصۡحَٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
  3. ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ l-maymanati (of) the right (hand)
90:19 ⚑
  1. وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna But those who
  2. كَفَرُواْ kafarū disbelieve
  3. بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا biāyātinā in Our Verses
  4. هُمۡ hum they
  5. أَصۡحَٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
  6. ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ l-mashamati (of) the left (hand)
90:20 ⚑
  1. عَلَيۡهِمۡ ʿalayhim Over them
  2. نَارࣱ nārun (will be the) Fire
  3. مُّؤۡصَدَةُۢ mu'ṣadatun closed in
